New poems - Unemployed Week - Modern Poetry - Melting Colors update

I have added the following two poems to my free ebook on Smashwords. Its title is "Melting Colors". A new chapter, "Thoughts" has also been added. You can get this book in several formats here:

"Unemployed Week"

On Monday morning
    I laugh at the world
On Monday evening
    I laugh at myself
On Tuesday
    I just do the reverse
On Wednesday
I ponder on the sense of it all
On Thursday
    I cry...

But on Friday
    I take pleasure
    in all the little things

On Saturday
    I rest
and drink from the water of life

Then finally, on Sunday
    ...I work!

"Modern Poetry"

Is this then what
they call modern
poetry - broken
lines continuing
thoughts left (somewhere)

hanging the future
balances of yet unseen
stanzas that start
tying disconnections -
untying connections

found perhaps in
moody (obscure)
scenes
details one is
supposed to know

these rather famous
people - Muji and
Halili
drinking milk! -
watching the latest

superhero movie
growing each second
stronger and stronger
themselves - "Zana
makes you strong"

you know it -
it is not even
arbitrary
time at 13:37
GMT+1

or the road
"Kreshnik 1"
unlabeled dust
flying and playing
timeless..

as stories I guess
native in content
foreign in meaning
vice-versa in depth
surfacing again

bubbles of styles
in meter with time
playing with rhyme
that one can design
and later combine

with deeper thoughts
of eastern winds:
"Who can ever find
The center of east and west
Ain't it everywhere?"

like here
...
yes there
...
no maybe

there is no such
place of
doors opened
with keys of wind
is there

enough of this
past, present
future
"modernity"
I guess

the old is "ancient"
what once was
"modern"
that so will be
in future times

when one may look
the same and different
and change
all of it - or nothing
and call it "modern"

But I believe
that one can write
not bound by time
not bound by space
or anything

Yet there are bounds
of those that read
in time and space
and everything
till they find keys

Of timeless dust
Of timeless wind
For doors and places
That one has built
He hopes with care

But then who knows
If there are treasures
Or empty spaces
Of fragrance feelings
Or dancing thoughts

But I build keys
Of wind, of dust
Of paper, ink
Of electrons
Till they can open

A door, a place
A mind, a heart
And feel the fragrance
Of thoughtful feelings
Of timeless things

And call them "modern"
Or call them "ancient"
I do not care -
About material
Or about form

Or ornament
And period style -
As they are keys
I'll call them keys
And only keys

And look for doors
For places, minds
For hearts and fragrances -
And match the feelings
Of timeless things -

Poezi te reja - Jave e papune - Poezi Moderne - Shkrirje Ngjyrash

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/286957

    Unë qesh me botën
Të hënën në darkë
    Unë qesh me veten
Të martën
    Unë bëj të kundërtën
Të mërkurën
    Mendoj për a ka kuptim
Të enjten
    Unë qaj...

Por të premten
    thjesht gjej gëzim
    në gjithë gjërat e vogla

Të shtunën
    pushoj
dhe pij nga uji i jetës

Si përfundim, të dielën
    ...punoj!

"Poezi moderne"

A është kjo atëhere
ajo që quajnë poezi
moderne - vargje
të thyera që vazhdojnë
mendime të lëna (diku)

duke pezulluar të ardhmen
e balancave akoma të papara
strofash që nisin
duke lidhur shkëputjet
duke shkëputur lidhjet -

gjetur ndoshta në
skena
me "atmosferë" (të mjegullta)
detaje që dikush
supozohet i di

këta personazhe
të famshëm - Muji dhe
Halili
që pijnë qumësht! -
duke parë filmat më të fundit

me superheronj
duke u bërë çdo sekondë
akoma dhe akoma
më të fortë - "Zana
të bën të fortë"

dihet -
nuk është
as arbitrare
ora 13:37
GMT+1

ose rruga
"Kreshnik 1"
pluhur pa etiketë
që fluturon e luan
përjetë..

si tregimet ndoshta
vendase në përmbajtje
të huaja në kuptim
për së kundërti në thellësi
duke dalë prapë në sipërfaqje

flluska stilesh - dikush
mundet kohën të sinkronizojë
me rimën një lojë
mund edhe të projektojë
pastaj ta kombinojë

me mendime të thella
prej erërash lindore:
"Ku është qendra e
Perëndimit dhe lindjes
A nuk është gjithkund?"

si këtu
...
po atje
...
jo ndoshta

nuk ka një vend
të tillë
dyersh që hapen
me çelësa ere -
thua ka

mjaftueshëm prej këtij
"modernizmi"
të shkuar, të tashëm
të ardhshëm
besoj

e vjetra është "e lashtë"
ajo që ishte dikur
"moderne"
që kështu do jetë
në të ardhmen që vjen

kur dikush mund të shohë
njësoj dhe ndryshe
dhe të ndryshojë
gjithçka - ose asgjë
dhe ta quajë "moderne"

Por unë besoj
se dikush mund të shkruajë
pa kufizim nga koha
ose hapësira
ose gjë tjetër

Por ka kufij
për gjithë lexuesit
në kohë, hapësirë
edhe gjithçka
derisa të gjejnë çelësa

Pluhuri pa kohë
Ere pa kohë
Për dyer dhe vende
Që dikush ka ndërtuar
Shpreson me kujdes

Por kush e di
A ka thesare
O janë vende të zbrazëta
Ndjenjash parfumesh
O mendimesh vallëzues

Por unë bëj çelësa
Preje ere, pluhuri
Prej letre, boje
Dhe elektronesh
Derisa të hapin

Një derë, një vend
Një mendje, zemër
Të ndjejnë parfume
Mendimesh, ndjenjash
Që janë përjetë

Quajini "moderne"
Ose "të lashta"
Nuk ka rëndësi -
Për materialin
Ose për formën

O zbukurimet
Ose për stilin -
Meqë janë çelësa
Do i quaj çelësa
Dhe vetëm çelësa

Në një kërkim
Për dyer, vende,
Për mendje, zemra - parfume
Që shkojnë me ndjenjat
Që janë përjetë -

Three haiga (painting with a haiku poem)

These are haiga, painting/drawing with a haiku poem.
I don't write a lot of haiku, but like haigas (not all, but some are really interesting).

Initially I made two haigas for a competition on DeviantArt ("Young Ancient Portrait" and "Busy worker bee"). Later I also made another one: "In a timeless place (Dancing muse)".

Here they are (clicking on them sends you on the respective DeviantArt page):

Hope you like them!

Skllaveria e njerezve

"Skllaveria e njerezve"

E pashe te jepte urdhera
Ne fushen e betejes
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Te paguaje per dy palet
E te jete me te dyja
Mos luftoje per asnjeren
Dhe nese ishte lufte
Proteste, revolucion
Nje grup apo nje tjeter
Populli, qeveria
Kur thirren per 'liri'
Kur thirren 'drejtesi'
Dhe shume per skllaverine
E skllaverise se njerezve
Ta futin ne nje burg
Perjete - apo ta vrasin
Pastaj te shihnin vetem
Nje rezultat takimi
Prape te dalin jashte
Skllever te skllaverise

    - - -

E pashe ne nje fjalim
Perballe nje turme te madhe
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Te paguaje per dy palet
E te jete me te dyja
Njekohesisht pa asnjeren
Nese ishte e majte
Qender a e djathte
Cfardo ngjyre te kishin
Tere partite e ndryshme
Kur thirren per ndryshim
Per dite me te mira
Drejtesi dhe ligje
Te drejtat e njeriut
Te mbajtura duke hequr
Skllaverine e mbetur
Sigurisht, genjeshter -
Me nje rendese me teper
Principal dhe interes
Pagese per skllaverine

    - - -

E pashe ne nje kopertine
Ne revisten e zhvillimit
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Te paguaje kerkimin
Te paguaje per shkencat
Pa bere vete asnjeren
Te marre shumice fitimi
Pak te leje per masat
(Si ajo duan te jene
E i marrin autograf)
Thirrje per para
Bast me gjithcka kane
Ne nje skeme komplekse
Dhene nga nje llogjike
Fshehur neper libra
Paguar nga edukimi
Kontroll skllaverie
Te mendjeve me te mira
Qe ulen mu ne krye
Te universiteteve

    - - -

E pashe te rrethuar nga shume
Qe e degjonin me vemendje
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Edukimin te paguaje
Mesimin te mbeshtesi
Vete duke zbrazur mendjen
Ta quaje urtesi
Te shkalles me te larte
Mesim me ze te ulet
Mesazhi eshte i larte
Therret per me debat
Per me mirekuptim
Dhe per jo me lufte
Nga ato me arme
Te pranojne ndryshimet
Te ndihmojne te varferit
Te pranojne kete fat
Ne kete bote te deshtuar
Dhe ne nje pergjumje
Te harrojne genjeshtrat

    - - -

E pashe ne nje skene te madhe
(Ndoshta nje stadium)
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Te paguaje per te varferit
E te mbeshtesi njerezit
Pa pyetur per asnjerin
Te kendojne per paqen
Qirinj per perkujtim
Te nje kohe te vjeter
A ideali humbur
Thirrje per debat
Per me shume para
Dhe per nje ndryshim
Per me shume liri
Debati ishte thirrja
Parate gjithmone paguar
Ndryshimi (kujtonin) ishte atje
Liria ne ate thirrje -
Dukshem, s'vinin re
Skllaverine e njerezve

    - - -

E pashe ne nje te ardhme
Dy a tre, a shume
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Te lexojne nje poezi
Te enderrojne ndryshim
Nje kengetar kendon
Ne universitet
Paguar per kete rast
Nga biznesmen i shquar
Politikan i flakte -
Lexojne nje poezi
Dhe mendojne me vete
Secili i pavarur
Dhe kerkojne pergjigje
Permes anarkise -
Thashe t'i paralajmeroj
Ata skllever poezish
Se atje mes tyre
Prape mund te ishte e fshehur
Skllaveria e njerezve

    * * *

E pashe ne nje te ardhme
Te humbur pergjithmone
Skllaverine e njerezve -
Kur s'kishte me as lufte
Dhe as politikane
As biznes qe blen
Edukim dhe kenge
Kur madje kishte ndryshuar
Mendja dhe zemra e njerezve
Dhe skllever s'kishte me -
E quanin parajse
Ku s'kishte me dallime
Ku s'kishte me shfrytezim
Nga njeri ndaj nje tjetri
Nga njeri ndaj te shumteve
Dhe nga te shumte ndaj njerit -
Une kohen nuk e di -
E pashe ne nje te ardhme
Te humbur pergjithmone
Skllaverine e njerzve...

Koment:

Nese do ishte e mundur, do doja qe kjo poezi te ishte ne gjithe gazetat. Megjithese disi mendim arogant (:D, ^^'>), sido qe te jete eshte ajo qe mendoj per gjendjen e organizimit social (ose ne c'gjendje gjendet njeriu ne pergjithesi), pavaresisht nga si quhet ai (kapitalizem, socializem, komunizem, anarki, etj).

Besoj eshte disi cinike, por shpresoj t'ju pelqeje kjo poezi.

The Slavery of Men

"The slavery of men"

I saw it giving orders
In the field of battle
The slavery of men -
Paying for both sides
Rooting for both sides
And for neither fighting
Whether it was a war
Protest, revolution
One group or another
People or the government
When they called for 'freedom'
And they called for 'righteousness'
And many called for enslaving
The slavery of men
Putting it in a prison
For forever - or killing it
But then the result
Being just a meeting
Coming out again
Slaves of smiling slavery

    - - -

I saw it holding a speech
In front of a large crowd
The slavery of men -
Paying for both sides
Rooting for both sides
And embracing neither
Whether it was left
Center or the right
Whatever color they had
All the different parties
When they called for a change
And for better days
Justice and fair laws
And the rights of men
Upheld by removing
Their remaining slavery
Obviously a lie -
Having more of a burden
Paying back to slavery
Principal and interest

    - - -

I then saw it featured
In the magazine of advancement
The slavery of men -
Paying for research
Rooting for the sciences
Doing itself neither
Getting most of the benefits
A little for the masses
(Desiring to be alike
Asking for an autograph)
Calling for more money
Betting all they have
On some complex scheme
Given all the logic
Hidden in the books
Paid by education
Controlled, too, by slavery
Of the finest minds
Sitting as the president
Of universities

    - - -

I saw it surrounded by many
Listening to it carefully
The slavery of men -
Paying for education
Rooting for more learning
Itself emptying the mind
And calling that wisdom
Of the highest grade
Teaching in a soft voice
Teaching a loud message
Calling for more debate
For more understanding
And for no more fighting
Such as made with weapons
To accept the differences
And to help the needy
To accept the fate
Of this failing world
And in sleepy state
Forget all its lies

    - - -

I saw it in a large stage
(Probably a stadium)
The slavery of men -
Paying for the poor
Rooting for the people
Itself caring for neither
Singing there for peace
Candles lit in memory
Of some fading time
Or some lost ideal
Calling for more debate
Calling for more money
Calling for a change
Calling for more freedom
The debate was the call
The money fully paid
The change (they thought) was there
The freedom in the call -
Obviously, didn't notice
The slavery of men

    - - -

I saw it in a future
Two, or three, or many
The slavery of men -
Of those reading a poem
And dreaming about change
Of some singer singing
In some university
All paid by a famous
Respected businessman
Fighting politician -
Of those reading a poem
Thinking by themselves
Thinking independently
Looking for an answer
Amidst the anarchy -
And I tried to warn them
Slaves of simple poems
That in all those actions
It could still be hiding
The slavery of men

    * * *

I saw it in a future
Forever lost, forgotten
The slavery of men -
And there was no war
And no politicians
No businessmen buying
Songs and education
Then had even changed
Minds and hearts of people
And there were no slaves -
Paradise they called it
And there were no differences
No more exploitation
Of one to another
Of one to the many
Of many to one -
I don't know the time -
I saw it in a future
Forever lost, forgotten
The slavery of men...

Comment:

If it were possible, I would like this poem to be printed in all major newspapers (really grandiose thinking :D, isn't it? ^^'>). But it really represents my current thinking on the general societal organization (or "human condition" if you prefer), irrespective of its actual representation (whether capitalist, socialist, communist, anarchist, and the like).

I guess it's pretty cynical, but I hope you like it.

Melting Colors - free poetry ebook

My newest poetry book "Melting Colors" is now available as a free ebook.

For the moment you can read a few selected poems from my other book "The Visual Non Visuals" and "Passenger Illusions". The idea is that all my publicly available poems are gathered at a single place. Therefore this book is and will remain free and will 'grow' with new poems (and not only) in the future.

The official book page is on Smashwords:
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/286951

You can download the ebook in the above Smashwords page (under the paragraph "Available ebook reading formats").

The ebook is available in several formats: pdf, epub, mobi (Kindle), text, et. There is no need to register in Smashwords to download it in any format you like.

Besides Smashwords, you can find it also in the Kobo and Barnes and Noble Nook store (only in epub format, though, and you'll probably have to register there)

Personally, for reading on your computer I would recommend the PDF format, and the EPUB format for reading on mobile/portable devices (iPhone, iPad, tablet, smartphones).

In any case you can always choose any of the formats in the Smashwords page above.

Happy reading!

Shkrirje Ngjyrash - liber falas me poezi (ebook)

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/286957

Poetry and time

Introduction

In a sense, this is a continuation of a previous post where I discussed poetry and its relationship to prose, story, art, abstraction and philosophy. There's a few more things I've noticed lately, particularly related to 'time'.

Poetry and DeviantArt

I am a member of DeviantArt (a large Internet artist community). Although I don't consider myself a frequent poster there, I do post some things. Up till now I used to post images (photography/drawings), but lately I decided to post some poems as well. That's when I started to notice something.

Let me expand a little on technicalities first. On DeviantArt you can join a group (and put your work in the group, after following each group rules). Now, when you join, usually automatically you also start 'watching' the group. 'Watching' means that if you were not logged-in you can see the works posted in the group at a later time (those that you have 'missed' by not being logged-in). Since I was mainly in image groups (and 'watching' them), and watching individuals who usually posted images, I did not experience what 'watching' poetry was like. Well, now I know, and hence this post.

Poetry and time

Let's continue with DeviantArt. Now, when I look at others' work I have the option of 'faving' (i.e. 'liking') that particular artwork. Often there's a lot of artwork (considering the frequency of posting, in a few days the number of images may be in the range of more than 100, and there's not only one group I'm 'watching'). However, with images it's easy to filter, what to like, and what to let go. It takes just a moment (maybe one second, or even less?). With poetry?... Much, much more (comparingly).

Maybe I'm not a fast reader, maybe this is rather new for me in the context of looking at a lot of writing, but I guess it's more generic than that. I think that reading (in general, not only for poetry) takes a much longer time to process. Therefore I'm guessing that images are much, much easier comparingly.

But there is a contradiction. As I said in the previous post, it looks to me that longer literary works (mostly in prose) have more 'fame'. And longer also means longer time (to read). Specifically poetry seems to be in a double time-problem, on one hand the 'accessibility' time (compared to images) and on the other hand the 'entertaining' time (compared to longer prose works).

The solution

Well, I don't really know. It may be that poetry should 'grab' the attention of the reader almost immediately (in the first few lines), it may be that it's just me being rather slow in this aspect (since it's not like there's no readership at all - but I should also say that I've done no research as to statistics of faves of poetry or writing in general compared to images), it may be that a poet should start doing 'haiga', or even something else I'm not aware right now.

In general, I think that imagery helps (that was also a possible conclusion of the previous post). It could be an image (painting), theatrical work, film or animation. By this, I don't mean that one should do only 'haiga', drama works, film scenarios and animation storyboards and just because the work is 'poetic' in style call that poetry. No, I simply mean that poetry could be adapted to all the above so that is in a way more easily accessible to the reader.

Conclusion

I think this is general, reading takes more time compared to images. One can look at several images (drawings, paintings, illustrations, doesn't matter much) and have an idea almost immediately of liking or not. With reading it takes much more time. Considering the volume of work available, reading in general is in a more disadvantageous position, only because of the time spent analyzing.

Imagery based on poetry could help, but I still wonder if that will be enough to an unknown writer, especially for poetry, when one has to consider all the other problems I mentioned in my previous post here. By this I mean that imagery in a commercial setting will be done only for famous works, and it is in fact done already, and we call them 'movies' and 'animation', but mainly for prose. So, it's up to the poet to do this extra marketing for himself (or herself), whether by also wearing the hat of an illustrator/designer, or seek the help of one, and post that to a image/video-sharing site.

And let's not forget, even though imagery could help, one will then have to compete with all the other visual works...

Sytë e mi panë përmes interesash me ngjyra
Të njëjtat gjëra si çdo njeri -
"Mirëmëngjes" më tha mua muzika
Dhe unë e pashë me sy shumëngjyrësh

Nga pjesa e dytë:

-- Si luledielli --

Nëse do prisje petalet e lulediellit
A thua distanca që do formonin
Do ishte sa distanca e pak metrave

A e bëjnë lulediellin
Të kthehet nga ana jote?

* * *

Kam dëgjuar të thonë
Se distanca midis dy njerëzve
Para se të bëhen miq
Është thjesht një përshëndetje

Por në këtë rast, pyes veten
Nëse unë do hidhja petale
Në distancën e zero fjalëve
Në distancën e vagonave
Në distancën midis zyrave
Në distancën midis nesh
A do ktheheshe nga unë
Si luledielli?

Nga pjesa e tretë:

-- I dhashë dorën --

    ...
por përgjigjet nuk ishin më ndryshe

Të fola për përpjekjet e mia
    dhe të kërkova thjesht
të më jepje dorën...

Passenger Illusions - selected romantic poems

From the first part:

-- Colorful musical eyes --

"Good morning"
I said to the musical eyes
But they looked towards some other place
And I didn't hear their music

In this little crowded place of rhythms
Notes play in colored eyes
Going wherever their interest is
But I didn't see their color

My eyes looked through colored interests
The same things as everybody -
"Good morning" the music said to me
And I looked at it with colored eyes

From the second part:

-- As the sunflower --

If you'd cut the petals of the sunflower
That you have put on the table in your office
Would the distance that they would form
Be as much as the distance of a few meters
Between us, when we get out of the station
Or as much as the distance between the train cars
(we never enter into the same one)
Or as much as the distance between our offices?

When outside it's cloudy and it's raining
Do your sun-colored hair
Make the sunflower
Turn towards you?

     * * *

I've heard them say
That the distance between two people
Before becoming friends
Is just a simple greeting

But, in this case, I wonder
If I would drop petals
In the distance of zero words
In the distance between the train cars
In the distance between the offices
In the distance between us
Would you turn towards me
As the sunflower?

From the third part:

-- I gave my hand --

I gave my hand to an iron handle
    of an old door
but that was cold

I gave my hand to a warm sleeve
of a blouse made of wool
    hanging on a wire
but that was empty

I gave my hand to a bracelet
in the vitrine of a shop
but it asked for money to pay for it

I gave my hand to a glove
I gave my hand to a drawer
    ...
but the answers weren't any different

I talked to you about my struggle
    and asked of you simply
to give me your hand...
